How stock is assigned to locations
Stock in AADOPS is always location-specific. Every unit of every product belongs to a specific warehouse or store location. When you add a product and set an opening stock quantity, you assign that quantity to a specific location. When you receive goods on a purchase order, you select the receiving location. When you record a production run completion, you select the destination location.
Setting opening stock at a specific location
When adding a new product:
- Go to Inventory β Products β + Add product
- Fill in the product details
- In the opening stock section, select the location and enter the quantity at that location
- If the product exists at multiple locations, click Add location and enter the quantity at each
- Save the product
Adding stock to an existing product at a new location
If a product already exists in AADOPS but you now want to stock it at a new location:
- Go to Inventory β Stock adjustments β + New adjustment
- Select the product
- Select the new location
- Enter the opening quantity
- Set the reason as Opening stock
- Save
Note: Never adjust stock at one location to account for goods that are physically at another. If 100 bags are in Aba and 50 bags are in Port Harcourt, record them separately at their actual locations. Combining them into one location record makes your stock data meaningless.
