What coupons are for
Coupons give specific customers or groups a pre-set discount when they present a code at the point of sale. Use them for promotions, loyal customer rewards, or end-of-season sales.
Creating a coupon
- Go to Sales β Coupons
- Click + New coupon
- Enter a coupon code β for example, LOYAL10 or JUNE20OFF. Make it memorable but not too easy to guess.
- Set the discount type: percentage or fixed amount
- Enter the discount value
- Set an expiry date if the coupon is time-limited
- Set a usage limit if you want the coupon to work only a certain number of times
- Set a minimum order value if the coupon applies only above a certain total
- Click Save coupon
Applying a coupon at the POS
- Add all products to the sale
- Click Apply coupon
- Enter the coupon code
- AADOPS validates the code and applies the discount if valid
If the code is expired, used up, or the order does not meet the minimum value, AADOPS shows an error message explaining why it cannot be applied.
Tip: Track coupon usage under Sales β Coupons β Usage history. This shows you which coupons are being used, by which staff, and how much discount has been given out in total β useful for measuring promotion effectiveness.
