What an RFQ is
A Request for Quotation (RFQ) is a message a buyer sends when they want to know your price before placing a formal order. They might be requesting a custom quantity, negotiating terms, or comparing prices across multiple sellers. Responding quickly and professionally to RFQs significantly increases your chances of winning the order.
Where to find incoming RFQs
Go to Marketplace β RFQ inbox. Each RFQ shows the buyer's name, the product they are enquiring about, the quantity they want, and the date they sent the request. New RFQs also appear as a notification in your dashboard bell.
How to respond to an RFQ
- Click on the RFQ to open it
- Review the buyer's requirements β quantity, delivery timeline, any special notes
- Click Send quotation
- Enter your offered price per unit for the quantity requested
- Set a validity period β how long your quoted price is valid for
- Add any terms or notes β delivery time, payment terms, minimum deposit
- Click Send
The buyer receives your quotation and can accept it, counter-offer, or decline.
When a buyer accepts your quotation
If the buyer accepts, the RFQ converts to a marketplace order automatically. You receive a notification and the order appears in your Marketplace β Orders inbox. Proceed from there as with any standard marketplace order.
