How barcodes work in AADOPS

Every product in AADOPS has a product code β€” a unique identifier. This code can be rendered as a scannable barcode. When a barcode is scanned at the POS using a connected barcode scanner, AADOPS finds the product and adds it to the cart automatically.

Barcode format

When creating or editing a product, the Barcode symbol field lets you choose the barcode format. The default is CODE128 β€” a widely supported format compatible with all standard barcode scanners. Other formats are available if your business or industry requires a specific standard.

How product codes are assigned

When you create a product, you can enter your own product code in the Product code field β€” for example, a supplier code or your own reference system. If you leave it blank, AADOPS generates a unique code automatically using a barcode generation algorithm.

Printing barcode labels

  1. Go to Inventory β†’ Products
  2. Find the product you want to label
  3. Click the barcode icon or open the product and click Print barcode
  4. Select the label size and number of copies
  5. Print to your connected label or receipt printer

Scanning at the POS

Connect a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner to your device. On the POS screen, click into the product search bar and scan. The product code is entered automatically and AADOPS adds the matching product to the cart.

Tip: If you use a supplier barcode that is already printed on the product packaging, enter that code as the product code when creating the product. You can scan the supplier barcode directly without printing your own labels.
