  • Sufficient raw material stock

What a production order is

A production order is a formal record of one manufacturing run. It specifies what you are producing, how much, and which raw materials will be consumed. When you create a production order in AADOPS, it uses your bill of materials to calculate exactly what inputs are needed and reserves them in your inventory.

Before you start

You need a bill of materials (BOM) for the product you want to produce. If you have not yet created one, see the article on creating a bill of materials first.

Step 1 β€” Go to Production orders

Click Producer in the left sidebar, then click Production orders. Click + New production order.

Step 2 β€” Select the finished product

Select the product you are manufacturing. AADOPS loads the associated bill of materials automatically.

Step 3 β€” Enter the production quantity

Enter how many units you want to produce in this run. AADOPS scales the raw material quantities proportionally from your BOM. For example, if your BOM specifies materials for 100 units and you are producing 350, AADOPS calculates exactly 3.5Γ— the BOM quantities for each input.

Step 4 β€” Review material requirements

AADOPS shows you the full material list β€” each raw material, the quantity required, and your current stock of that material. If any material is insufficient, it is highlighted in red. You must resolve stock shortfalls before confirming the order.

Step 5 β€” Set the production date

Enter the date the production run starts and the expected completion date.

Step 6 β€” Confirm

Click Confirm production order. The required raw materials are reserved in your inventory β€” they cannot be sold or transferred while the production order is active.

Tip: Run your production orders in batches that match your actual production capacity. A production order for 10,000 units when your daily capacity is 200 units creates a confusing picture of your work in progress. Match order size to realistic production runs.
