How cost attribution works

Every time you record a stock consumption against a department, AADOPS calculates the cost of those items using their recorded cost price and adds it to that department's running total. Over time, this builds a complete picture of how much each department is spending on supplies — without any manual calculation.

Viewing a department's consumption and cost

Go to Consumer → Departments
Click on any department to open its profile
The summary shows: total items consumed this month, total cost this month, and a consumption history with each record listed by date

Budget tracking

If you set a budget for a department, AADOPS tracks spending against it. The department profile shows a progress bar: how much of the budget has been consumed in the current period. When consumption reaches 80% of the budget, you receive a notification. When it reaches 100%, you receive an alert.

The department consumption report

For a full breakdown across all departments, go to Reports → Consumer report. Select By department. The report shows each department's consumption and cost for the selected period, sortable by cost to see which departments are the heaviest users.

Note: Cost attribution is based on the cost price recorded in your product database. If cost prices are outdated or missing, the attribution values will be inaccurate. Keep your product cost prices current for meaningful department cost reporting.
