What an offtake agreement is

An offtake agreement is a pre-harvest commitment from a buyer to purchase a specific quantity of your produce at an agreed price. For a farmer, it is one of the most valuable things you can have β€” it eliminates price uncertainty, allows you to plan your planting around guaranteed demand, and can be used as evidence of income when seeking agricultural finance.

How to create an offtake agreement in AADOPS

  1. Go to Farmer β†’ Offtake agreements
  2. Click + New agreement
  3. Enter the buyer name and contact details
  4. Select the crop the agreement covers
  5. Enter the agreed quantity
  6. Enter the agreed price per unit
  7. Set the delivery date β€” when the buyer expects to receive the produce
  8. Add any agreed terms β€” payment on delivery, grade requirements, packaging specifications
  9. Click Save agreement

Linking an offtake agreement to a crop cycle

Once saved, link the agreement to the relevant crop cycle from the crop cycle detail page. This allows AADOPS to track whether your projected harvest will meet the agreed quantity and alert you if your expected yield falls short.

Fulfilling the agreement at harvest

When your harvest is recorded and the buyer collects or you deliver, mark the agreement as fulfilled from the offtake agreement detail page. AADOPS records the completion date and the actual quantity delivered against the agreed quantity.

Note: AADOPS offtake agreement records are internal documents β€” they are not legally binding contracts by themselves. For large, high-value agreements, work with a lawyer to create a formal contract. Use the AADOPS record as supporting documentation.
